Military Service & Legal Practice

Where Military Leadership Meets Legal Advocacy

The principles that guide effective military service—discipline, strategic thinking, unwavering commitment to mission, and moral courage—are the same qualities that define exceptional legal representation. At Grable PLLC, we bring a unique perspective shaped by extensive military experience to every case we handle.

Brandon Grable's Military Journey

My path to becoming an attorney began with military service. At 17, I made the decision to skip my high school graduation in small-town Arizona to attend basic training for the United States Army. This choice would fundamentally shape my approach to both life and law.

Active Duty Service

From 2004 - 2013

United States Army

I served on active duty in the United States Army, including combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. During my service in Afghanistan as a Sergeant, I was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in a combat zone—an experience that taught me the true meaning of commitment, courage under pressure, and the importance of constitutional principles worth defending.

These deployments provided profound lessons in leadership, strategic planning, and mission execution—skills that now serve my clients facing complex legal challenges.

Continuing Service

From 2013 - Current

Army Reserves

I've continued my military service in the Army Reserves, rising to the rank of Sergeant Major. This leadership role involves training and mentoring soldiers, strategic planning, and ensuring operational readiness—responsibilities that parallel the skills needed for effective legal representation.

My ongoing military service provides a continuous reminder of the core values that guide both my military and legal careers: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.

How Military Experience Enhances Legal Representation

The military background I bring to legal practice offers distinct advantages for clients:

Disciplined Preparation:

Strategic Thinking:

Mission Focus:
Ethical Leadership:
Government Understanding:

Military operations demand meticulous planning and thorough preparation. I apply this same disciplined approach to case preparation—leaving no detail unexamined, anticipating potential challenges, and developing comprehensive strategies to achieve client objectives.

Combat experience teaches the importance of strategic vision—understanding how tactical decisions contribute to broader objectives. In legal matters, this translates to looking beyond immediate issues to consider long-term implications and developing strategies that address both immediate needs and ultimate goals.

Military service instills unwavering commitment to mission completion despite obstacles or adversity. I bring this same determination to client representation—maintaining clear focus on objectives while navigating the complexities of litigation or appeals.

Military leadership requires making difficult decisions under pressure while maintaining commitment to core values. This experience proves invaluable when guiding clients through challenging legal situations that involve complex ethical considerations.

Military service provides unique insight into government operations and bureaucracy—knowledge that proves particularly valuable in civil rights cases involving government entities or officials.

Representing Military Personnel & Veterans

My personal experience as both an active duty soldier and reservist provides special insight into legal matters affecting military personnel and veterans:

  • Servicemember Civil Relief Act: The SCRA provides important protections for active duty personnel, yet these rights are frequently overlooked or violated. Our practice has successfully litigated SCRA claims, including securing a permanent injunction against a state agency for violations affecting a military spouse.

  • Transition Challenges: Veterans face unique challenges when transitioning to civilian life, from employment issues to accessing benefits. Our understanding of both military and civilian systems allows us to effectively navigate these intersecting worlds.

  • Military Culture: Military service creates a distinct culture and perspective that civilians often struggle to understand. This shared experience allows for more effective communication with and representation of military clients.

Commitment to Service

The ethos of service that defines military life continues to guide our legal practice. We view legal representation as more than a profession—it's a continuation of the commitment to protect constitutional principles and individual rights that begins in uniform.

Whether defending civil rights, navigating complex appeals, or handling general civil litigation, we bring the same dedication, strategic thinking, and ethical commitment that characterizes effective military service.
